20 SEO Tips

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a never-ending process for any webmaster, every one wants to top the search results, but a few people can only achieve it. There are many factors which influence the SERP, I have written plenty of posts on it, but today I am presenting you a 20 SEO tips, if you follow them strictly, there is no doubt that you are going to achieve the top search results and you organic traffic is going to increase 10 times before.

This article is for beginners as well as specialists, because still some SEO’s are doing some minor mistakes while working on SEO projects, so I want to make sure everyone should do great for their clients. SEO Tips:

1) Write markup that validates according to published standards.

Write valid markup so that search engines can easily extract which data is relevant. Try to present the information in your page or posts or title in a hierarchical order and if possible use all header tags which adds you an advantage. Concentrate on meta tags and title as far as SEO is concerned they are most important.

2) Have separate CSS and JavaScript files

Pages generated by the content management system were in itself very clean and small, try to place the css and JavaScript files to be in separate external files on server so that when Google searches for your site about content it makes it easy to find your content more faster.

3) Google Webmasters Tools

This tool enables you to a view which of your pages are included in Google’s index, See any errors met while crawling your site, Find search queries that list your site as a result, find out which sites link to yours and helps to diagnose your site problems.

4) Simple Html is preferable

Always try to use simple HTML in your pages for designing tables and forms so that it will be easy for extracting the data from your site, it will help your site in terms of seo.

5) Don’t Go For Frames

It is advisable not to go for frames as they will make your site slow while loading, even crawlers may find difficulty in it and better use good title if you have gone for frames. search engine bots cannot crawl the rest of the site if you have frames in your page so it’s better to go with Noframes instead of frames

6) Try to have less Flash

Don’t use Flash for text and try to use it as little as possible as search engines cant index flash perfectly. Better prefer CMS and JavaScript for menus instead of going with flash for menus. Even if you go for videos try to avoid flash in most circumstances.

7) Construct a sitemap.xml file

In order to get your site indexed in google properly create a sitemap.xml file which has all the pages of your site.

8 ) Create a Site Map

Apart from creating a sitemap.xml ,you should also create a site map for your site so that users can easily navigate from one page to another page in your site which makes them feel free to get their data in an easy way.

9) A robots.txt File to Your Root Directory

As crawlers can crawl to each page of your website ,it’s better for you to create a robost.txt in your root folder in which you can place data which you want to hide from crawlers’ and others.

10) Check for Broken Links and Images

If your page has links and images have a regular check at them ,if the links breaks the users may not be pointed to what they search for, so you may get penalized by this be careful in this regard.

11) Say No to Duplicate Content

Say no to duplicate content as it is a poison to your site it can be harmful to you as well as your site. Never copy the content from other sites and just paste them try to read and write in your own words which has a meaning and can be useful to people.

12) Informative Error Page

Instead of showing an error page when user clicks wrong information which is not there in your site try to connect him to the correct page based on his search option by using keywords, instead of showing error page. This will be helpful to people who makes them happy to visit your site often.

13) FSD (Flat Structure Directory)

Try to have fewer clicks from your home page, when user goes in to your site. Search engine likes to use the data in a quick and easy way so better to keep less clicks from home page which may not annoy them.

14) SEO Friendly URL’s

SEO cannot consider URL’s with session id’s and dynamic names so better use a meaningful name . Prefer Hyphens( – ) instead of underscore( _ ).

15) Effective Footer

Always have footer links which help search engine to navigate easily from one page to other page of your site, prefer to have links to main and important pages of your

Use pertinent anchor text and do not waste link equity from excessively linking to non reciprocating pages within a site.

17) Content Volume

Ensure you have enough content to bring down a practical keyword. Try to have a good content volume and concentrate on keywords which can target as many people so that you can get good traffic to your site.

18) Deep Links

Get at least 5-10 inbound links to each page via deep links from other sites to create enthusiasm in visitors to visit your site regularly.

19) RSS Feed Syndication

Set up multiple RSS feeds within a site to syndicate your content to attract natural backlinks from other sites. A proper RSS campaign alone can build enough links for your website.

20) Videos

Submit your videos not only to YouTube but also to other quality video websites. Enclose video contents on your webpage with keywords for the search engines to decide the usefulness and relevance of the video.
