Wordpress 3.0 Troubleshooting

WordPress installation process is very simple,I will explain this entire tutorial in the up coming post. But here problem starts with Themes and Plugins, while installation time you will get errors,or else at the time installation of Themes, you will get errors. So at this time what to do ?.This is really some what problematic, and I know how much pain it is.So don’t worry here in this tutorial I will tell you how to Trouble shoot these installation errors or issues.

Troubleshooting the WordPress Plugin Installation Errors :

WordPress is famous by its Plugin support,so you have tons of plugins for various features, you have to choose which you want. You will get huge amount of plugins at WordPress Plugins Directory. 90% of Installation errors occurs because of Server restrictions and Server compatibility. And another 10% is because of Coding issues and Compatibility issues in Plugins.

Follow these bellow instructions if your Plugin installation was Failed….

  1. First thing you have to check is Plugin Compatibility, almost we never reads the instructions but it is your blog,so don’t ignore it.Check the version and see whether it is compatible or not.If it is not compatible simply you can go for other alternative, you have plenty of options to go.
  2. The second thing is because of restricted user privileges for your account,by default it is 755 permissions given to all the directories in WordPress,in some cases if your installation error is showing ” *directory access restricted”.Then you can simply login in to your hosting FTP account using any FTP client ( I recommend Filezilla ).After logging in, go to the directory (Almost all Plugins will be installed in wp-content ) which is restricting you to install the Plugin. Now right click on the wp-content folder and select File Permissions.
  3. Now check all the boxes which are Unchecked,Check all the boxes for User permissions and Public Permission. And now in the bellow side you can see Apply this changes to all Sub directories.Check that box also and hit OK.That’s it,now again try to install the plugin again it will definitely get installed.
  4. Another reason for installation failure of Plugin is wrong coding in the script,so please avoid such type of Plugins, which can cause entire data crash for your Website.
  5. Please before installing or upgrading anything Back up all your WordPress and Database files,or else you know how much serious will be the damage.

Follow these bellow instructions if your WordPress Theme is not showing Thumbnails at Homepage :

If you are ready to setup your blog for the first time or else your existing blog suddenly stop showing the Thumbnails on the Home page for your Posts.Thumbnails are very popular nowadays, every one love these trick because it gives a good look to your WordPress blog. This tutorial will definitely resolve your problem without any doubt.

  1. After installation of your new custom theme, still your homepage is not showing the Thumbnails for the posts. That is because of some user level restrictions don’t worry,we can overcome these restrictions as like the above process.
  2. All your post images are loaded in wp-content/uploads/images folder,so you can check the file permissions using the 2nd and 3rd  step in the above process.
  3. Now set the 777 permissions to the wp-content directory, after that just refresh your site homepage and see.

How to Troubleshoot  ” Failed to write file to disk ” error in WordPress 3.0  :

While writing this post I got this error, and try to find out the solution on Google but I was surprisingly wasted. There is no solution on Google, but I found the solution for this Failed to write file to disk while Uploading Images in WordPress.Follow this bellow steps…

  1. Failed to write to disk while uploading images error is happens because of Server side issue. It is purely server issue.
  2. All you have to do is call to your hosting support or raise a Ticket with all the details and clearly mention the Error message.”Failed to Write to Disk “  while uploading images. This is exactly what I did.
  3. So your hosting people can troubleshoot this issue within seconds. This is purely server side issue.Don’t think that it is with your WordPress 3.0 blog.
