How to Configure Google Open DNS Servers in XP,Vista Windows7,Linux
Google has released its Brand new Open DNS Project,as per graphs,4% of Internet users are already using this New Evolution.So how to configure this new Google DNS Servers in your PC for faster Browsing Experience,and what are the Google DNS IP’s.
Here we go…Use the following process to assign the Google DNS in your PC,and feel the speed of the Google.
The Google’s DNS Server IP’s are….
| Primary DNS | 8.8.8.8 |
| Alternate DNS | 8.8.4.4 |
Configure Google DNS Server in Windows XP :
- In Windows XP go to My Network Places > Click on View Network Connections .
- Now all network adapters present in your system are displayed,just select the one with which you are connected to the Internet.
- And now right click on the connection and select Properties.
- A new window will appear in that one scroll to the last level,you will find a Name with TCP/IP V4 Configure , just double click on it.

- Now you will see a new window with asking IP,Subnet and Gateway.
- Please don’t change IP address or anything,just keep it as it is.
- Now bellow to that one you can able to see Primary DNS and Alternate DNS,just select the check mark and assign
Primary DNS 8.8.8.8 Alternate DNS 8.8.4.4
Configure Google DNS Servers in Windows Vista and Windows7 :
- To Configure Google DNS Servers in Vista and Windows7 follow the bellow steps.
- Go to Control Panel > Click on Network and Internet >Now Click on Network and Sharing Center.
- At right side of the window Change the Adapter Settings link appears,just click on it.
- Now all network adapters present in your system are displayed,just select the one with which you are connected to the Internet.
- And now right click on the connection and select Properties.
- A new window will appear in that one scroll to the last level,you will find a Name with TCP/IP V4 Configure , just double click on it.
- Now you will see a new window with asking IP,Subnet and Gateway.

- Now bellow to that one you can able to see Primary DNS and Alternate DNS,just select the check mark and assign.

Configure Google Open DNS Servers in Linux Operating Systems :
- To configure Google DNS Servers in Linux Right Click on Desktop and Open Terminal Window.
- Now Type system-config-network & exactly as it look like here.
- A new Network Configuration Window will Open,now go to DNS tab.

- After giving the above DNS IP’s just close the window,now it is asking to save the Changes.Just Click on Yes.
- Now go to Terminal Window and now Type service network restart
- You are Done.
